Proyecto ´ace

In July and August of 2017 I attended to PATA summer courses with a scholarship as resident artist.
In a month I developed two experimental projects of intersection between installation and textile art. The creative process was about discovering the available materials (threads, textile machines) and work them at the Academy workshops in the city of Łódz. At the end of both periods, the works were exhibited at Kobro Gallery, at the same institution.
In the first period I produced “The strenght of softness”, using one of the textile machines that was in the studio.
In the second term, under the tutorship of Jolanta Rudzka Habisiak, I produced “Amadora Chair”. This work was the result of exploring over a functional object generating an intervention that could extend its regular use.

STATEMENT
The braid is the first knit that women learn when we are kids. It is a weave that we do to ourselves, with ourselves, taking our hair as a fiber. In an act of synthesis, but also of repetition, I invoke all the women that work, worked and will work in the art of weaving. I invoke them through the braid as a symbol of femininity. I invoke them with braids that, instead of falling gently, they appear standing up, as symbol of power, as a flag of strength.
This work is an intervention to a machine to talk about women. It is an experimental tribute to crafts and female power.
