Todavía Nuestro | Still Ours

Still Ours is the first solo exhibition of Foguel (Buenos Aires, 1987), winner of Curriculum 0 2022. Curated by Javier Villa, the exhibition took place in Room 2 of Galería Ruth Benzacar from December 16, 2023, to January 26, 2024.

The exhibition invites the audience to engage in a contemplative, tactile, and auditory experience, but above all, it is an invitation to perceive time differently.

In the first room, visitors encounter a horizontal freezer guarded by the image of two pigeons, as if it were a chest containing a oneiric treasure. Inside the freezer, a frozen universe unfolds—serpentine shapes set the stage for various ice sculptures, evoking everyday moments in which water plays a central role. These moments are fragmented, exaggerated, or multiplied. The audience can choose one of these ice sculptures and carry it into the second room.

Upon entering the second room, visitors pass through a cascade of threads. On the other side, three silver gutters emerge from different points of the cascades. The ice sculptures can be placed on these gutters so that, as they melt, they travel along the paths to a single vessel, where the waters from each ephemeral sculpture merge and blend. Visitors can sit on couches facing this phenomenon, as if witnessing a dreamlike scene: a possible sunset on the eve of the world’s end, where three winged serpents lower their waters to initiate the creation of new life.
